How do ward boundaries work? Like would New Heritage buildings 29 and 28 be in the same ward?

usually the ward is a closely placed group of apartments or houses.

New Heritage 29 and 28 are actually both girls' dorms. Wards are created so that there is an approximately equal number of men and women. Heritage 29 is paired up with Heritage 25 (boys) while Heritage 27 is paired up with the other boys' dorm in Heritage 26.

My bad. I was going off of your Heritage 29 being actually Heritage 28 (28 & 27 are girls' dorms, 26 & 25 are boys' dorms). Heritage 29 is still under construction, so I'm not sure if it will be a boys' or girls' place or what other building(s) it will be paired with.

If you call Space Managment between 8am and 5pm they are incharge of all ward boundarys for BYU and orem. You can get their number from the campus operator

There is a chance they might be in the same ward, but it depends on the floor and even sometimes the room number.

You might be able to look up that info on LDS.org.

usually only a few floors are in a ward, not a whole building. I live in Helaman halls and the first floor halls are in one ward with 2 other 3rd floor halls in a completely separate/random boys building.

Wyview or Heritage?

New Heritage

I'm probably going to live in Old Heritage because the social scene is better. Also, the furniture is more functional than in New Heritage.

For you, it depends on what your situation will be. At Wyview you'll probably need a car simply because it's farther from campus. There is a shuttle system, but what will happen if you left something in your room that you need?

I would pick Heritage because it's much, much closer to campus and the social life is better. However, if you're looking for the best price, Wyview is cheaper.

Heritage. I live here now and I just love being so close to campus I can walk home in between classes. Also if you can get into New Heritage it is super nice.

I loved Heritage in the brand new buildings. Heritage is closer to campus which is also helpful for those without a car. Wyview is less expensive, however. Depends on what you are looking for.

Heritage Halls. It's much closer, and the students are more social.

Is it better to room with people you don't know or with a friend?

There are pros and cons to both, I would say that if you want to meet new people the best thing to do is to room with those you don't know. If you're like me, however, I usually make friends better when I am already doing something with a friend because then I feel more comfortable. Either way you have the chance to meet wonderful people.

I think it is great to room with a friend and then also room with people you don't know. You have the comfort of already knowing someone and it makes it easier to meet new people as well.

I love to move in with new people! It's like having instant friends. Some of my best friends ever have come from random college roommates.

Depends. 50/50 chance. Meeting new people is cool and most likely you will make new friends. It all depends on your attitude. I've had bad roommates but you just need to make the best of it. Be kind. Don't be quick to judge. Basically just be kind.

Both is great, but if you room with a friend, make other friends as well.

It is better to room with a friend because then you already know them and know your dynamics together.

I'm a pretty shy person - but still have always chosen to room with someone I didn't know. For the most part, it's always worked out! And given more opportunity to meet different people.

For those in the advertising major, do you know if it is difficult to find a job after completing school?

at BYU specifically, they have above a 95% placement rate for students who actively seek an advertising job right after graduating.

there is always going to be advertising . I don't think they will have a problem

The people I know who were in the advertising major who have graduated have all gotten jobs pretty quickly.

I believe that BYU graduates have excellent opportunities following graduation.

BYU has a great advertising program. You can get a job pretty much right after graduating with big companies, like Nike for example.

If I enjoy writing and designing, what is the best major to suit these interests?

Maybe advertising. It's pretty competitive, but give it a try.

I think journalism might be an avenue to explore, especially editing and page layout, since you would have an opportunity to write and do page design.

Marketing or advertising would be able to use both of your interests

Thank you all so much :)

I'm studying advertising, and both those fields are very prevalent. You might want to look into being a copywriter.

Advertising definitely! BYU has a really great ad program and they have a specific design track. It is a competitive program to get into but if you are passionate about it and work hard you should have no trouble getting in!

What is the absolute soonest you find out your admission decision? I know it's normally February, but I know a BYU student who thinks they found out sooner.

January

you can know in the week prior or dring that week by checking the student directory something like that

The application should give you a date in February that you will find out. In my case, the names of the newly accepted students were imputed into the BYU's database a day or two before the given date, so lots of people found out that way.

I didn't find out until March. You won't find out sooner than February unless you are applying for a semester other than fall/winter. The application deadline (before priority) is February 1 so no way you can before.

So applying way before even the priority deadline has no affect on the date you find out?

If you call in and ask they will give you a specific date. Everyone knows at the same time regarding acceptance.
