Some of the Most Beautiful Girls Possible

Compared to other colleges that my friends attend, Northeastern seems to have a much higher amount of attractive girls. Yes, there are some downright ugly ones, but the majority are beatiful, and some of them are - i'm not going to lie - breathtakingly gorgeous.

Campus Strictness at Northeastern University

B

Getting Harder Every Year

As one of the most liberal states, MA has decriminalized its drugs law. Nevertheless, NU is getting tougher on drugs and alcohol, and students should be careful. I believe that Northeastern is going to have a harder time dealing with these issues, as Northeastern has apparently been ranked as THE drunkest university in the country and the number of students who admit to smoking weed is skyrocketing year after year.

Off-Campus Dining at Northeastern University

B

A Lot of Options That Stduents Seem to Not Know About or Take Advantage of

Akin to BU, Northeastern is surrounded by quite a lot of great off-campus eateries, but students seem to not take advantage of them. Most students prefer to stick to the dining halls and some supermarkets in the area to feed themselves. This changes in the summer semesters for some reasons, as a lot of students switch from dining halls to off-campus places.

Drug Safety at Northeastern University

B

Weed Is Invading NU.

Once known as a relatively clean campus, NU is now one of the most weed-friendly schools in the country. I don't do drugs, but virtually everyone i know has smoked weed in the past year. Also, as time goes by, i hear more and more students talk about harder drugs.

Overall, girls seem to be resisting the trend, but pretty much 99% of guys smoke weed here.

Diversity at Northeastern University

C-

Meh...could be more diverse

While there are many differemt races, creeds and religions at NEU, this does not stop the vast majority of the student body to be made up of white, catholic, suburban, english-irish-italian-polish kids from the northeast. efforts are being made, but it will take time to see a truly diverse school.

Meh...Could Be Better

While there is an existent minority population on campus and while there are people from different nationalities, creeds and social classes, that does not stop the vast majority of students to be white, suburban, catholic, English-Irish-Italian kids from the Northeastern part of the US. The university does try and make it feel diverse, but i know quite a few people (especially kids from the South) who have left the university because they felt out of place.

Weather at Northeastern University

D

Be Prepared for ANY Type of Weather

This may not appear as a surprise, but Boston has a very unpredictable weather. There are rarely more than 4 consecutive days of sun, and then it's a combination of cloud, light rain, somewhat nice and total showers. Do yourself a favor and come equipped.

And if you come from a Sunshine state, you might need to be patent and learn how to deal with the ugly weather, because it does get ugly at times.

Computers at Northeastern University

B

Better Get Your Own

In a time where technology is everywhere and of prime importance, it is a stupid thing to not get your own computer before coming here. While there are several awesome computer labs (Infocommons is sick), having your own laptop is a safer deal, especially for group studies and revising for finals.

Nightlife at Northeastern University

B-

Decent, but Not the Best

Boston, despite its reputation as a college town, only really gets exciting when you turn 21. Otherwise, the city doesn't offers a lot. There are all-ages concerts, shows, places where you can hang out and all that good stuff. But there is not much else when you're 18-20 years old.

Athletics at Northeastern University

B

Hockey, Basketball....And That's It

As with all New England schools, Ice Hockey is the dominant sport here at Northeastern, and whether you like the idea or not, you will NOT escape the hockey frenzy. NU is among the best in that sport and the support from the student body is indescribable.

Basketball is also becoming a pretty big part of life at NU. The team has been doing really well in recent years, and this seems to be just the start.

Then there's the rest. Some sports do reasonably well (swimming and diving especially), but do not enjoy the same powerful popularity as hockey and basketball do. Intramural sports are also increasingly popular but the overall interest is still minute.

Campus Dining at Northeastern University

C

Far from Exceptional, Very Repetitive, but Good Enough

Northeastern, unlike most other "urban" universities, doesn't have 24-hour dining, and there are only three cafeterias (alongside the different eateries that can be found throughout the campus). The food is not really good, but it is enough just to get by.

Poor Quality Freshman Dorms

For all the amount students pay, most freshman dorms could be at least decent. The vast majority of freshman dorms are even disgusting or tiny.

Greek Life at Northeastern University

B

Rapidly Growing

I notice how a lot of people view Greek life at NU as small, negligible and dull. I personally feel as if it is now everywhere, extremely noticeable and almost something that is hard to live without. Almost 50% of people i know are involved in Greek life, which indicates an impressive Greek population. The demand for Greek membership has been skyrocketing in recent years.

Off-Campus Housing at Northeastern University

B-

Very Expensive

As Boston is not an example of cheap city, housing in the city costs a lot. There are, however, many ways to make it less so, like having several roommates. But despite the cost, it's great to have more freedom!

Facilities Are Sick

NU often brags about it's top-notch faculties, and it has all the bragging rights available. Just a brief look at the gym and the halls prove it.

Getting Better, Tougher, More Daunting

Since NU is rising in the rankings, expect some pretty tough work to do. NU is now the type of university where screwing up just ONE thing can screw up your entire semester, so you better be extremely organized and be focused in class, especially during the first few classes.

Overall Experience at Northeastern University

C

NOT for Everyone

To be honest, i have VERY mixed feelings about Northeastern. While i was very aware of the importance of co-op here, while i am starting to see what i want to do with my life, and while i have made several good friends, i often, no, wait, actually always hope that NU would be more of a typical college. I also wished that the student body would be friendlier and not as stuck up or close-minded as it is. This university does disappoint in many domains. This is not a university for anyone. If you have no idea where your life is headed, if you do not have a "perfect life" (ie your parents/family are/is alive, healthy and well, your finances are solid and if everything is going well) or if you are just looking forward to live the typical college experience... Do not, UNDER ANY  CIRCUMSTANCE, even start to think about NU's existence.

Diversity at Northeastern University

C-

It's all in the name/Decent amount of tolerance

While there are students from all over the country and from MOST parts of the world (Most foreign kids are either Chinese, Indian or European), the vast majority of students at NU are white, suburban, mostly upper-middle to upper class kids from the Northeast. There seems to be a general tolerance towards diversity, but there have been occasions where students just lost their cool against kids from other backgrounds.

(Quick point about foreigners: Even though there are foreigners, most of them have actually lived in the USA before coming to college. I only know like 3-4 foreigners that have been born abroad AND never lived in the US before college.)

Greek Life at Northeastern University

C

Growing but still low key

Since coming to NU. I have noticed that Greek Life has become a lot bigger, more prevalent and far more popular than before. Most statistics show that only 4-5% of the NU student body is involved in Greek life, but 10-15% would now be a more accurate estimate.

Even though it is growing, it still remains something you can live without for the most part.
