Walking Alone

I am a college sophomore. I am about 5'3" and 110 lbs. I often have to walk alone at night on campus after spending hours upon hours in the library. Usually, I would be very scared to walk alone; however Ball State gives us every opportunity to protect ourselves. The provide adequate lit paths, emergency call phones, and there is always a campus cop driving around. Ball State also from time to time offers self defense classes. I myself take precautions from becoming victimized by carrying pepperspray and always taking the well lit path opposed to the quicker but darker path.

On Campus

Campus life is not for me. I lived in the dorms for a year and a half and just recently moved into an apartment. I felt perfectly safe in the dorms however its just too crowded. There is always someone yelling or making noise so it makes it hard to study. The good part is always having dining and a work out facility available.Its also nice to be able to be so close to classes and save a little gas money. However, the ridiculous cost of on campus living is not worth it for some poor quality food and some run down work out equipment.

Ball State

Ball State is unique because it has something for everyone. They have very diverse academic programs as well as opportunities for people of all different walks of life. For example they have programs for international students to meet with other students from their own country. They have programs for gay and lesbian advocacy. There is always something to do and someone who makes you feel at home at Ball State.
