Guys & Girls at Bard College

D-

Girls and Boys

All the boys are either gay or look like they are gay (very effeminate and conscious of appearance- they wear tighter pants than the girls do). Most people look dirty/and or tired and love to talk about how they are "broke" while wearing $200+ pairs of pre-faded acid wash jeans. Much of the student body is socially awkward and/or rude which makes for a very lonely social experience.

Athletics at Bard College

No Athletics

There are no athletics at Bard. End of story. Our team is called the Raptors. Animal? Questionable. Ever heard of them? Didn't think so.

Drug Safety at Bard College

D-

Drugs are popular

There are many rich city kids who go to Bard and because the location is so remote, there are many bored rich city kids who go to Bard. This means that there are lots of hard drugs that are floating around. Ecstasy and acid as well as cocaine are popular. Also hard alcohol. Cigarettes are ubiquitous- literally everyone thinks that smoking will make them more indie/cool/hipster/apathetic.

Facilities at Bard College

C

Buildings could really be better

The buildings could really be better for how expensive this school is. Some of the dorms (all the "treehouse" dorms) are trailers and very flimsy/dirty/even moldy. Most of the buildings feel lived-in and slightly run down. The Performing arts center is very nice (Bard's pride and joy) and I am not alone in thinking that some of the millions of dollars spent on it could have been divided among some of the other buildings which are in various states of disrepair. Many of the buildings are old and beautiful, some are quite new, but a few dorms are disgusting and even hazardous to students' health.

Off-Campus Dining at Bard College

A-

Everyone Loves Taste Budds

There are many nice little places to go in the surrounding towns. The problem is, without a car it is not super easy to get to the surrounding towns (Redhook, Rhinebeck, Tivoli). There are shuttles, though, and those who are car-less are frequent passengers. In Redhook, there are at least four low-cost eateries which welcome Bard students and have delicious food/pleasant atmosphere. Tastebudds tea house and chocolatier is particularly popular. Also in Redhook there is a natural foods health store and this is also a great place to get ready-to-eat food or regents for cooking. Rhinebeck is less popular and Tivoli is more expensive, but, all in all, there are many options from which to chose.
