Better Than Most
There is no doubt that USD has the best college dining around (keep in mind I said college). The main cafeteria food is always made fresh to order, my only complaint is that it can be very bland as they seem to not understand the concept of salt or spices. But overall you cant complain. They try to mix things up by having food from all over the world; chinese food, sushi, thai, pizza, pasta, mexican, burgers etc.. All I can say is that you WILL gain your freshman 15 eating the deserts. They are amazing. Just remember to get the lowest meal plan possible and don't be too lazy to make the walk to Burt's or La Paloma for lunch sometimes.

Suprising Amount of Help
I got 2 scholarships which covered my entire tuition and a bit of financial aid as well. Basically I'm at this school with a full ride. Most people I know have a scholarship of some kinds. Many have gotten full rides. I know this school is expensive, but you'd be surprised with how much they will help you. And I'm not a crazy world renowned cello player or amazing athlete. Just an average hardworking student.

Most non-competitive but intellectual school I've ever encountered
Strangers in class will seriously hand you a 20 page study guide for an exam and help to edit your essays. Seriously students are beyond nice here. I think it's because there are students from all academic backgrounds so people don't feel the need to be cut throat.
I know people who got into USC, Boston College, and even Harvard but also people who have never taken a single AP class. Both types will do fine in classes as long as they do the (very manageable) amount of work that the professors ask. Just make sure to use rate my professor b/c some can be lemons.
