Southern Sports
JMU is a place that's underrated. Fraternities and sororities are all there on gamedays in their Saturday best ready to cheer on the fighting Dukes. The new stadium renovation and box seating has taken JMU athletics to a whole new level.
Basketball isn't that great, but they give you incentive to go to the games like free performances and free t-shirts.
Intramurals are huge and there is just about anything you can think of.

Gorgeous Weather
The weather isn't too cold in the winter, but cold enough that there is skiing close by at Massannutten and occasional snow days where classes are cancelled. It doesn't get cold until late November and starts warming up again in early March. Sundresses can be worn 75% of your time at JMU.
It does rain quite a bit so be sure to pack your umbrella and rain jacket.

Social
Lot's of social groups and opportunities. UREC where everyone goes to work out is awesome.. a little small but every type of workout facility you can imagine and more. Lots of workout classes available too!
Lot's of charity and giving back happening at this school.
Recruit-a-Duke helps you get a job during your senior year and connects you with alumni who will also hook you up.
Everything is really clean-- each dorm has a cleaning staff that is there every single day.
The bar scene is becoming bigger and bigger each year which is great. Dave's is a great place to go for a drink and Beyond is great for sushi.
