Diversity at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

A-

Gay Pride

RPI isn't terribly open about it's LGBT community, but it most definitely exists. The college's purple community produces their own newsletter and the Pride Alliance holds a Cross-dressing contest each year. I know that some intolerance exists, but I don't know those people personally.

Computers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

A

Laptops Are Prolific

As an engineering school, RPI requires that each student own a laptop and provides the software and WiFi to make them useful. The laptop offered by the school has lasted me over four years now, and it has taken quite the beating. Not having a laptop or computer knowledge puts one at a major disadvantage here.

Athletics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

B-

Not Part of the a Team

For years the school's hockey team was simply known as "The Engineers". Stereotypes of engineer's athletic prowess definitely apply. Yet, the school does have a booming intermural sports subculture and school spirit is high.
