Home in the Heartland
I came to Champaign because I, as a native Illinoisan, knew that it was going to be a place I was already familiar with in a crowd heavily based out of Chicagoland. I knew it was affordable but also a great education as U of I maintains its place as one of the best academic schools in the country.

Mediocrity
Going to a "block" in the fraternity at the bars before the game is the only way to make the home football games tolerable. Every freshman should look into doing the Orange Krush fan club though for basketball because we normally field a team decent enough to have fun actually watching the games.

Illinois has the largest Greek system in the nation. Enough said. Exchanges are awesome, block on the weekends is awesome, and last but not least: barn dances.
