Professors Really Care
I came to PC not having a clue what i want to do in the future, and all of my professors really care and really want you to succeed. They push class discussions and the development of the students ideas rather than talking at you in a big lecture. I even call all of my professors by their first names!

Not a Huge Necessity
you cant have a car on campus until your junior year, but public transportation is free and the bus stop is right on campus. Most people bring their cars for convenience, but isn't actually necessary. If yo do have a car, parking can be tricky

Easy Public Transportation
Public transportation is so easy at PC. The bus stops right at the main gate on campus and takes you anywhere in Providence you need to be. It also stops right in front of the train station which makes it cheep and easy to catch a train to Boston, DC and anywhere in between. Plus, the bus is free with a student ID.

Crowded at Crunch Times
On an average day, there will almost always be a computer open, but during midterms and finals it gets a little tricky. Most of the student body do have their own computers, but if you don't own one, it isn't a huge issue

Options for Everyone
Pretty much everyone at PC lives on campus and you can't move off until your junior year. While some people do move off campus, the houses are practically on Providence college grounds. The freshman buildings are nothing special, but it is possible to live in the suites and apartments as early as sophomore year.

Very Active Campus
Providence College is a D1 school and part of the Big East conference, so athletics are pretty big. The main sport is basketball, with most of the student body purchasing season tickets. The best part about the athletics here, is that because the school is so small, there is a high likelihood of having athletes in your day to day classes, which is usually not the case at the big schools we compete with.
The gym is brand new with state of the art equipment and a variety of classes. Intramural sports are HUGE here as well

The Hidden Scene
While alcohol use is very obvious at PC the drug scene is a sneaky one. As far as weed, it is very easy to obtain and students will have no trouble getting access if wanted. I thought this was where the drug scene came to an end. However, after getting to know more and more people on campus, I've also come to realize that behind closed doors there are far more drugs here than I originally thought. This being said, this school is in no way a "druggie school." For the people who do do them it is strictly a social activity. There is no pressure to do drugs whatsoever, and if caught there are very serious punishments.

The Myth About Global Studies
The Global Studies program is growing major across the US, and at PC it is no joke. Some people do not take this major seriously, but besides the work load, I have grown so much. Most classes are discussion based, which has allowed me to gain so much confidence in the classroom. I have no problem with presentations or simply stating my views. I have learned how to relate to my professors and they are so personable in this department. While the workload consists of A LOT of writing, research papers, and reading posts, there are no formal tests and I have learned more in this type of atmosphere than in any of my other "structured" classes.

PC Is My Home
The thought of only having 4 years at this place before I'm forced to leave is relatively heartbreaking. There is such a sense of community from the professors, to the lunch ladies, and the overall student body. Everyone at PC is so welcoming and happy to share their love for the school. The academics are tough and could get stressful at times, but the social scene makes up for it. There is something to do every night whether you're into bars and parties or a night on the town. Everyone has a passion for getting involved, and after 4 years at PC you are able to find yourself. PC is a lot of things but above all, it is my home.
