Any advice or tips for an incoming freshman?

Just curious if anyone would share advice or tips pertaining to fitting in at CofC or if anyone would be willing to share she freshman year experiences. Thanks!

It's great. The school is very special but the student body is great. I did pledge and joined a sorority - it was a lot of work but I didn't have sports or honors classes to compete, and didn't take a job until spring semester. It was on my own, not work study. Most students live on campus, and come from outside of SC, but probably 1/4 are instate students. I met great people in my dorm, many friends were made in upper classes, older students, but many also were Freshman from my region (New England). I know you will do well. Try to always have a plan, a backup plan, and be flexible. This is advice for anything - not just school. Good luck!

Thanks so much!

Focus focus focus on that first semester, doing very well your freshman year will make it easier for you in the long run.

Go greek! I met all my friends in greek life. Also Wednesday nights = the best nights.

If you are a girl, I would participate in rush just for the experience of meeting people (there is no pressure to join, in fact I didn't). Also try to get involved in campus activities, even the people are already know aren't!
