Something Available for Everyone
There are so many different choices for living in that you cannot go unsatisfied. For freshmen, the AMRs offer a very social experience and a location directly on campus at the cost of having a smaller room and facilities that are not as nice. Wolman and McCoy have great facilities, suite-style living and tend to have larger rooms that are air conditioned, but are not directly on campus and are slightly more secluded. Buildings A & B also have suite-style living spaces right on campus, but are smaller dorms compared to the rest.
Overall, there are choices to suit every interest and every dorm has singles in it if you wish to live without a roommate (a big plus for me).

Not Too Prevalent
I haven't really had contact with any drugs since coming to this school. There are people who smoke weed, but they are not the majority. Alcohol is the most popular choice by far and parties occur almost every day.

A Blast
Hopkins is amazing. The mix of intellect, fun and friendliness makes it a great place to go to school. People work hard, but party hard as well. Don't come here expecting to relax all the time, but don't think there is no social life here either.
This school has the perfect balance of fun and work: classes keep you challenged whilst the social life keeps you happy.

Great Study Spaces and Gyms
The study spaces on campus are great. Gilman Hall's Hutzler quiet reading room (aka "the Hut") boasts beautiful stained-glass windows and free tutoring services for students. The MSE Library offers 5 different levels to study on to suit every type of studyer (from the quietest on D-level to group studying on A-level).
The gyms are great too. Almost every dorm has their own exercise room as well, so if you don't feel like walking to the actual gym you can run on the treadmill in your own building.

Research Research Research!
The research opportunities here are incredible. I am already investigating the role of nanoparticles in drug delivery and I am only a freshman.
The Wilson Fellowship (which you should absolutely apply for) provides students with $10,000 to spend on whatever kind of research they want. Whether you are into archaeology, biology or art history, there is some way you can get involved in research.

Easy and Transparent
I received the amount of financial aid I needed. JHU's financial aid office makes it easy to keep track of your papers once you enroll, and a simple phone call can correct any mistakes that may have occurred in the processing.

Campus Security Is Great
I have never felt unsafe on the Hopkins campus, even when returning alone from parties late at night. Baltimore gets a bad rap for being an unsafe city, but Hopkins security patrols 24/7 and blue light phones provide immediate relief if you ever feel unsafe on campus.
Also, as an added bonus, HopCops don't usually bust parties.

Diverse
There are people of many different races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations and political beliefs here at JHU. No matter where you come from or what your beliefs are, you will find someone like you and be praised for being different.

Decent
The guys and girls occupy all ends of the spectrum. There are really unattractive people and really attractive people as well. Let's be honest- if you are going to college just to hookup or get an "Mrs." degree, Johns Hopkins isn't the place for you.

Whatever You Are Into
The nightlife is great. If you are into frat parties with beer pong , drinking and rave-like dancefloors, frats are welcoming to all people (even people not affiliated with Greek life). If you prefer relaxing in your dorm jamming out to music, there are plenty of people who do that. If you like movies, the Hop organizes a movie showing every weekend. Whatever you like, there is something for you.

Free and Convenient
With Penn Station only ten minutes away by free bus, you can get almost anywhere on the east coast with relative ease. Also, getting to downtown Baltimore is really easy and free as well. The MARC train can get you to DC in under an hour for only $7 on weekdays, and can get you to BWI airport in about 20 minutes for only $4.

Lots of Options
Baltimore as a city has tons of dining options. The only downside is that if you are into fast food chains, Chipotle and Subway are pretty much the only options within walking distance of campus.

Relaxed but not exaggeratedly so
HopCops don't usually break up parties and the school knows that, with the large workload, students need ways to relax and relieve stress on weekends. Drinking in the dorms is common and does not tend to go noticed either. Take care not to leave alcohol paraphernalia laying around your room though as it can get confiscated.
