Fort Worth Is the BEST

Fort Worth is the best city someone could go to college in. It's not this scary big city like most major universities are in. There are tons of things to do -- Billy Bob's on Thursday, Movie Tavern on 7th Street, Hulen Mall is close by. Fort Worth has everything you could possibly need, but the safe and comfortable environment to go with it

Parking at Texas Christian University

Parking

I love TCU, but I hate the parking. There are just not enough spaces! The worst part is that every time you turn around, TCU has converted a parking lot for another building on campus. Also the signs near TCU about parking are horrible! I can never understand if I'm allowed to park in the lot or not. It is confusing and frustrating.

Scholarships at Texas Christian University

C-

Good, but Could Be Better

Aid for TCU only happens when you apply to the school. They have a few scholarships here and there during your time at TCU, but the biggest chunk of your aid comes once you receive your acceptance letter. Also -- TCU constantly increases their tuition. Keep that in mind when you are factoring the cost of the campus. Tuition could increase by $2000 over 4 years, but your financial aid will stay the same.

Health & Safety at Texas Christian University

B

TCU Safety

I have never felt unsafe at TCU. We have our own Campus Security and although their main concern is passing out parking tickets, it makes the campus feel a little safer. TCU always informs the student body whenever something does happen on campus such as car break ins or assaults. Instead of hiding the information, the campus informs the students of any possible threat. I have always appreciated that. TCU is located in a city, however, and any city is going to have a higher crime rate.

Diversity at Texas Christian University

B

TCU Diversity

TCU is pretty accepting of all races, religions, and economic backgrounds. I will say that most of the diversity can be found due to TCU's athletic program although they are trying to adjust that in their admissions process. Most of the student body is white, upper middle class, christian, and moderately conservative. But if you differ in any one of those aspects, you definitely do not have trouble finding friends with the same beliefs.

Majors at Texas Christian University

On Your Own

I was a Film Major at TCU and you were pretty much on your own when it came to finding internships. The only way I got an internship was because one of my teachers told me about one. It's all about who you know and who will recommend you. There is no formal system for our major that gives information on internships and jobs. Career services has a good website called FrogJobs, but it is best for AD/PR, Communication Studies, or Business majors.

Computers at Texas Christian University

B+

Computers

There is never a shortage of computers at the library. There are plenty for everyone to go around -- but only if you are a PC person. There are definitely not enough MAC computers and when a MAC malfunctions, no one at the help desk knows how to fix it. TCU StuWireless can be a little unreliable. But TCU tries its best to help students fix any computer issues.

Drug Safety at Texas Christian University

B-

TCU & Drugs

I have never encountered much drug activity at TCU. I assume it is all about your circle of friends and who you surround yourself with. I suppose if you seek it out, you can find it, but I have never had any issues with usage of peer pressure. I have noticed that more people tend to smoke cigarettes when they go out. Also, in my opinion, drinking and drunk driving is more of an issue at TCU than drugs.

Campus Strictness at Texas Christian University

C+

TCU Strictness

I feel like its a little unbalance. For some people they have really harsh punishments and for others they just get a slap on the wrist. I guess it depends on the situation and circumstance. TCU has this cool group called the Peer Advisor Board. A group of students review disciplinary cases and help to decide what the punishment should be.
