Off-Campus Dining at Ithaca College

B

Ithaca Center

There is a great variety of food options in Ithaca Center. From Bars, to Pizza Shops, to the famous Moosewood Cafe. The food is all enjoyable and relatively inexpensive. The only problem is that it is hard to get from campus down to the restaurants. If it was easier to get there, I think it would be a much better experience.

Health & Safety at Ithaca College

A

So Safe

Ithaca definitely has a safe, comfortable campus. There is a blue light system if something comes up, but I do not know of anybody that has had to use it. I never felt uncomfortable walkign the campus at night. The only time that I have seen public safety used was in a medical emergency, and there was quick response helping ensure that they were there to help.

Off-Campus Housing at Ithaca College

B-

Housing Is Available

There is definitely plenty of off-campus housing in Ithaca. The places that I have been in were all very nice, and in nice neighborhoods. One pro is that the college has a money incentive to move off campus. A con is that a car is necessary if living off-campus.

Campus Dining at Ithaca College

C

Needs More Variety

The dining hall food gets old. There is not much variety and not very good quality. I think the best option is to use Bonus Bucks and get food outside of the dining halls.

Parking at Ithaca College

B-

Better for Upperclassmen

Parking is very expensive for Freshman, better for Upperclassmen. Parkit Permits are only valid in certain areas of campus, and campus safety is not afraid to ticket your car. I feel like parking could be done better, especially since some parking lots are not full. A car is not necessary on campus, but to get off campus, it is much better to have a car than having to use public transportation.

Overall Experience at Ithaca College

A-

Great College Experience

So far, so good. I'd have to say that I really like school. I lived in an All Freshman dorm, which was great to meet other people. I think that the variety of different opportunities offered at the school makes it very unique. Having great musicians, to future doctors, and great athletes. I would definitely still choose Ithaca.

Hard Work Pays Off

For the most part, classes at Ithaca college can be challenging, but with hard work, you can learn an incredible amount of information. With effort, one can succeed. The professors are understanding and willing to make time to help you out. I have had a great experience with the majority of my classes and have greatly enjoyed the classes along the way.

Campus Housing at Ithaca College

A-

Dorm Life

There are many options for housing on the Ithaca College campus. Ranging in cost, you could live in a single, double, or triple in the traditional quads. There are the towers with quite a view of the lake. The terraces are a little bit nicer, again with a view. There are also on campus apartments available that can open up different options for students. Having only lived in the quads, I am not a fan of the setup of the rooms. Hallways are set up kind of "hotel-style" where there are just rooms next to each other. I feel that if there were rooms across from each other or underclass suites, it would be easier to meet people in the dorm.

Campus Strictness at Ithaca College

C

Campus Police

I feel that campus police don't really have much of an impact on campus. I don't think that punishments are in place, so the party atmosphere is felt. I do not feel that people take consequences into consideration when partying, because they are not strictly enforced.

Academics at Ithaca College

A

Exercise Science

In the exercise science department the professors are very knowledgable and incredibly dedicated to their jobs. The professors are always looking for more research projects to expand their knowledge and explore different ideas out there. It is a very strong program that can open up many career opportunities.

Drug Safety at Ithaca College

C-

So Loose

Campus police do not really enforce much about alcohol or drugs unless you are blatantly being an idiot about it. It has even been said that it is much better to get caught on campus with drugs or alcohol than downtown because there will not be nearly the same consequences on campus. It is kind of ridiculous how much alcohol and pot there is clearly visible without consequences.

Transportation at Ithaca College

A-

Bus

The bus is incredibly convenient. You can have a bus pass added to your ID card and it goes downtown and to the mall every half hour, and it hits the streets on the way there. It is cheap otherwise so, it is a good option.

Computers at Ithaca College

D+

Campus Network

Ithaca College has a TERRIBLE campus network. The internet is very slow and the IT department does not respond quickly to problems. I was in a computer class when the network crashed, which made it so that nobody could finish their assignments. It is a hassle to have to work with the school's computers and internet service.

Weather at Ithaca College

C

SAD

There is a saying here that is "It looks like an Ithaca Day." An Ithaca day is a gray, dreary day with either rain or snow. I would say that at least 2/3 of the school year there is precipitation. It is funny when it turns sunny, because there will be people sunbathing when it is only about 50 out.
