Off-Campus Housing at Goucher College

B

Few and Far Between

The places off campus are few and far between; there are two main apartment complexes, and then you have to get on 695 to access another building. Goucher is more than eager to kick its students off campus, considering how little housing we actually have on campus.

Nightlife at Goucher College

Or Lack Thereof

I don't party at all, so I have no idea. I've heard that we're pretty lacking when it comes to partying; most people go off campus. We have a lot of Programming Board-sponsored events.

Academics at Goucher College

B+

Hit and Miss (But Mostly Hit)

There are certainly professors here that are absolute gems, but a few are questionable choices. I'm very satisfied with the teachers I've had, though I've head many a horror story about others. For a small school, we have a good variety of majors and programs, and the Baltimore Student Exchange Program certainly helps. Workload is very doable and very writing intensive. The office hours are reasonable as well, and the professors are good about empathizing with students.

Campus Housing at Goucher College

C+

$ $ $

I just moved off campus this year, and I am so happy I made that choice. Housing is very expensive, and so is the meal plan ($16 per meal? I can go farther with those dollars at the grocery store). I'm saving a cool $6,000 a year by living in the city.

Best option: Mary Fisher Hall. Plead allergies so you can get a single and move there as soon as you can (Bacon is the closest to the Academic Quad, but it has a very tiny kitchen). Or make quick friends and snare a very nice apartment in the T.

Worst option: Tuttle. Last year, it was like living in a crack house. Lots of vandalism and a strong campus security presence. Frolicher and Winslow are generally considered the freshman slums of the campus.

The process is generally easy until you have to deal with Community Living, which soon becomes a black hole of suck.

Parking at Goucher College

A-

Pretty Darn Good.

I always find a spot in the morning, and luckily our campus is not very big, so a walk to class from the visitor's lot is 5 minutes, tops. The fact that you have to register your car as a student even though you don't live on campus is the only detracting factor.
