Avoid Meal Plans!
A dining plan is mandatory for incoming freshman. For anyone else, it's not worth it! The breakdown of the different meal plans is between 7-10 per meal. If you get a block plan you can use the meals whenever but they are not transferable. You can't "swipe in" a friend. And you will most likely have unused meals left at the end of the semester. The other type of plan gives you X number of meals per week and if you don't use them, they expire. That wastes so much money! You can also forgo the meal plans altogether and just pay $6 for breakfast or $8 for lunch whenever you decide to eat there. No wasted money and it is so much cheaper in the long-run.

Dorm Reputations.
You can find a breakdown of the dorms and their reputations online. If you live on campus, you WILL get ants. It's unavoidable. Good luck.

Baptist Fun
Let's face it. It's a Baptist college. Either you're in the "drug scene," which is not huge, or you're not and you'll probably never see it.

Armed Robberies
There are so many armed robberies on or near the Baylor Campus, mostly at the surrounding apt complexes. It is NOT safe at night. Because Baylor is not a commuter campus, they will wait until the very last minute to cancel class if snow and ice make getting there difficult. This causes accidents or absences for students who live off campus. The police are more interested in giving parking tickets than protecting anyone.

Diversity?!
It's a private Baptist college. It's expected of everyone to fit into a "higher standard" box. It's not generally looked-well upon to be different of "revolutionary" at all. This includes the professors.

AWESOME
The athletic center is awesome! The medical center is awesome! They libraries are awesome! Campus activities are not outstanding but decent.
The athletic center has an indoor track, an outdoor track, basketball courts, tennis courts, tons of exercise equipment of all varieties, two pools, a jacuzzi, a slide, a whirlpool, and tons of classes which include yoga and palates. You cannot beat this athletic center! AND it is free to all Baylor students! It's included in tuition!
The medical center is great! You can only make appointments for the same day, but if you have an emergency later in the day, they can usually get you in. I got a UTI the morning that my choir was to leave on a 6 day tour. I called them and told them the situation and they got me in immediately, got me my prescription, and had be back over to the buses well in time to load my luggage. Awesome people!

Good Grub!
There are plenty of options for food around Baylor. Just across the freeway, less than 1/8 of a mile, is Fast Food Row. They have Whataburger, Taco Cabana, Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, McDonalds, Sonic and several other places. Just a mile away is an area with Mexican food, a steakhouse, Italian food, a French bistro, a pool bar with a great selection of beers, and a Thai place. Further away are amazing restaurants like Buzzard Billy's, Bari's, and Klassy Glass.
Sorry to say that Waco has NO Indian food, no Hawaiian food, and very limited vegetarian/vegan options.

Armed Robberies
Apartments are not cheap but there are many very close to campus. Unfortunately that is where all of the armed robberies take place. Expect about 10+ per semester. On the plus side, usually within 10 minutes after it happens, Baylor will send out a text to every student to stay indoors until the suspect has been apprehended.
Some of the apartments are really nice and very functional.
Both of the major property management companies in that area are awful. Expect no help once you've moved in. Brothers and Kelly
