Downtown Flag
For those under 21, the night life at NAU might require a bit more effort in finding a small house party or you can head to one of Flag's many "all ages" or "18+" shows such as MELT at the orpheum. Flagstaff's local bar scene is very active, however. The small, friendly downtown is packed with local bars and great drink specials. It's proximity to the unviersity allows students to have a good time and still be in walking distance to campus. During the summer, or warmer months, you'll find the streets packed with bar-hoppers.

Don't Bring a Car.
Parking at NAU is ridiculous. For starters, the campus runs North to South, with little expansion East or West. There are two parking garages, with plans for a third, and different assorted parking lots -- all which require different parking passes that exceed $300 for the year. IF you don't bring a car, NAU charges a transportation fee of $30 a semester which in theory covers the free buses that constantly run on campus in addition to a new route that the city added, leading from downtown to the movie theatre on the West side - free with your NAU I.D.

A-
NAU and Flagstaff as One.
NAU is nestled in a college town, and its host, Flagstaff, is a very active, involved and liberal community. Films, events, shows, and sports play an important role not only at the school, but also in the community as well. The local ski resort, Arizona Snowbowl is plenty of motivation for students to enjoy the snow covered winters, and the plethora of nature hikes and beautiful trails make Flag the perfect oportunity for anyone who loves nature.
