Hempstead, NY
Hempstead is not a safe place for a person to walk around by themselves, and particularly when one is under intoxication. The bars are often very crowded because they draw students who are under the age of 21. Also, house parties are often too chaotic. It's very noisy, very dirty and the hosts try to rip people off by selling cups of beer from kegs. The neighbors hate Hofstra students because of their loud house parties. The Roosevelt Mall is a very a big shopping mall and you can certainly find all the stores that you would usually shop at, however, it is hard to get to for students who do not have a car. Aside from on-campus activities from student organizations, there are rarely any activities, attractions and the "pride" spirit for Hofstra's sports teams are lacking.

What Athletics?
School spirit is very low. The team performance is not very good thus causing declining student participation and involvement during games. The quality of coverage for the sports is good, particularly from the school's radio station WRHU. However, turnout is low for games and most students do not go to any Hofstra athletics game throughout their whole Hofstra career.

Watch Out for Storms
Only during snow or thunder storms does it become a hindrance to getting from point A to B. Particularly if you are a student who regularly heads in Manhattan, you will rue storms. Otherwise, the weather is pretty decent, especially in the spring when all of the beautiful flowers and trees are in bloom.
