Liberty is a great school. The people are generally nice and helpful (students and faculty). Great school for outdoors people. Liberty owns their own mountain with miles of trails. There is a year round artificial ski slope (free to students). Though liberty does have many top performing academic institutions (debate, quiz bowl, school of nursing), they also have many students who don't take academics seriously due to the high acceptance rate.

Drugs and Alcohol – The drug/alcohol scene is next to non-existent. Peer pressure will push you away from substance abuse. Students are technically not supposed to consume alcohol.

Off campus housing is readily available, but taking this option will probably leave you feelling disconnected. The way Liberty University is positioned, an on campus student really doesn't need to leave campus. There is a walmart, dollar theater, ice cream/ coffee shops etc. all right across the street. If you are looking for an apartment, try living on campus east for a semester first.

Helms School of Government – The government school at Liberty University is great. I feel like most of my upper level classes are growing my understanding of the area of study rather than simply checking off a requirement for graduation. Professors are diverse in their approach, the programs are always growing, and there are internship opportunities. A program that has been promoted around campus is semester in DC. This is where one of your semesters can be taken while you are an intern in DC. P.S. the Helms School just got a sweet new location on campus.
