University Protection
Coming from a big city, I never feel afraid walking alone on campus during the nighttime. However, if it is really late there are SafeRide and SafeWalk programs where you can get a free taxi ride or have two people walk home with you. If you use the programs provided by campus you will not find yourself in a dangerous situation on campus. Personally, I have never met anyone who has fallen victim to any sort of crime while at Madison.

Variety
The off-campus housing selection is very diverse with a variety of different locations and prices to choose from. Most sophomores choose to move out of the dorms after freshman year because apartments can be less expensive than living in University Housing.

Smooth Process
Scholarships offered by the school are very competitive and difficult to obtain unless if you are at the top of the incoming freshman class. Fortunately, I recieved grants that helped me cover most of my tuition and I never had issues dealing with the finacial aid process.

Great Place to Learn
University of Madison offers endless academic opportunities. I am double majoring in History and Environmental Studies and my professors have been amazing. The school does not only teach you how to think but how to speak. 20 person discussion sections with T.A.'s help students gain a better understanding of the lecture or expand on what the professor discussed. Furthermore, professors are easily accessible and really do like speaking to students. The workload is tolerable and there are plenty of libraries and study areas like the SAC that provide students with the peace and quiet needed to get their work done.

Strong & Attractive
Overall, the student population is very attractive. Students here are very motivated and take care of themselves nicely. Girls tend to dress modestly and are not very obsessed with the latest fashion trends. Both genders spend considerable amounts of time working out, and people here find it appealing to be healthy and in shape.

So Much to Do, So Little Time
State Street sits at the heart of campus. The long street holds a variety of restaurants, bars, and stores that attract a wide range of eating and shopping preferences. Also, the theaters on state street are frequented with excellent plays and concerts. Every weekend I am confronted with multiple choices of how to spend my precious free time.

Food for Everyone
The dining halls on campus offer a large variety of menu options to choose from. Rheta's is probably the best place to eat on campus at the moment. It has stir fry and burritos made to order, fresh fruit and vegetables everyday, and buffalo wings once a week that many students look foward to. Next year there will be two new campus dining options on campus adding more competition to the cafeterias on campus.
