Safety
Security on campus is really good. Public Safety is always around and is willing to help at any time. Like most campuses we have the blue light system, that are phones that call public safety when you don't feel safe. If there is anything that happens on campus that will potentially be unsafe, students get a text message, and email and phone call about it. I've never felt unsafe.

It's There, but Not Very Obvious
Drug and alcohol is definitely present on campus, but only within certain groups of people. I would say there's more people that don't use either than people that do. Drugs are definitely less available than alcohol, but alcohol isn't really a problem in it's own. Definitely a smaller availability than, say, a state college.

Deaf Culture!
There is another college within RIT that is just for deaf and hard of hearing students. The deaf population is a little less than half and is very interesting to be a part of. When you're here, you're bound to be friends with a deaf person, and you'll probably learn some sign language while you're at it.
