Health & Safety at Dickinson College

A+

SAFETY COMES FIRST!

On Dickinson College campus we have DPS and they are really good at keeping students safe. They respond to anything such as parties, dorm fire alarms going off as well as any social events right away. They are always on full alert. We have safety rides to places in town available to every student so if you need to go somewhere there always ready to escort you there and they make sure that each student reaches their destination safe. They also offer self defense classes which teaches student how to defend themselves by using different scenarios and they always take the time out to sit down with students and speak to them about anything their concerned about on campus. Last year we had an area on campus that when students are walking there they get scared because there was no lighting present at all and that you couldn't see anything when walking; once someone told the DPS they went right away to check out the area and they made sure a light was placed there. Also they established blue lights on our campus where every area has one and in case of an emergency students can press the blue bottom and DPS responds right away to you and if you need them they move very fast. I feel very safe on my campus; for I can step outside late at night with no worries because their always on alert. There isn't an hour that goes by that you don’t see the public safety guards driving pass or walking pass and making sure that the campus and students is safe. Each one of the DPS staff members take every situation and question you ask even about rape, situations, or anything that students fear serious and for that reason I feel very safe.

Greek Life at Dickinson College

B+

HISTORY IS THE KEY THROUGH MANY DOORS

Greek life is normal, they host events on campus which teaches students about the history of their sorority. Every year each sorority would have many students trying to pledge for their sorority and it takes a lot of dedication for each students. You have to be present at every meeting they have and you would need to be free from hours of 6-8 pm. Grades are very important so they look at students who meet the requirements and shows their very determined. There also very big on volunteer work and helping out the community so they encourage students to step forth and be apart of that. Each sorority is like a family. They all have social life’s to which they try to also include friends and family to join them in different activities they participate in. That for me is really great because it's nice to not just want to stick to your Greek family an get to know other people so students look up to them for that. Their also respected by other students. There are Greek housing available such as Capa Houses, Gama Houses and so much more so any student that is interested in joining sorority they can go in and find out about.
