Campus Dining at Fashion Institute of Technology

B+

Food on Campus Isn't Great but Lots of Restaurants Around It

I never had a meal plan at FIT but you can get a "declining balance" which is a system that allows you to put money on a card and use it in the cafeteria, the on-campus starbucks, or snack shops throughout the year. Depending on which dorms you are residing in, you may have a kitchen and if you like to cook, thats definitely the better option. Also, you are in the middle of manhattan and there certainly isn't a shortage of restaurants or cafés.

Parking at Fashion Institute of Technology

You Don't Drive in New York

its difficult even to get in when you are moving into the dorms. You definitely don't need a car. But the school is situated between the 1 train (7th ave) and ACE trains( 8th ave)

Inside Scoop at Fashion Institute of Technology

A

Its Very Connected With the Industry

I'm in the fashion design program and most of my professors are still in the industry or have had a lot of experience in it. FIT professors did not go to school necessarily to teach which can sometimes be frustrating, but it helps close the gap between classroom and work. I'm not sure if this is true for all majors but as someone who has transferred from a big state college, its not a typical college experience. There isn't much campus pride because we certainly don't have a big sports following and the campus kind of looks like any other building in the city so people kind of stick to their own thing.
