Eh
I'm sure nightlife is fun for those who go out, but after receiving too many police reports about sexual assaults or robberies, I avoid it. There are apartment parties that often times you can get in without knowing whose apartment it is, though guys may have to pay a small fee... Frats pretty much suck because Greek life is so unimportant here.

Careful With the Police
Many things go unnoticed, but if you're caught the police will most likely get involved. I've had two drug/alcohol busts on my hall, both times the people were arrested. People get around policies as long as they are discrete. In public, like around the frats, cops will usually just break up parties if people start fighting or if it's too loud.

Every Man for Himself
Living here, even in the dorms, is like having an apartment. It's like being thrown into the city to fend for yourself. There is no real sense of school unity, aside from basketball which only got big after they made it to the Final Four. The academics aren't hard and while drugs aren't used by all, they are pretty prevalent on campus. Richmond is not the best at all; many homeless people sit in the center of Monroe Park and almost weekly students receive emails about people being assaulted or robbed. Better to apply somewhere else...

Minimal
Greek life is not emphasized at VCU. The only way I ever heard about it was because I had friends in sororities and they tried to recruit me. Most people here don't care whether or not you are in a sorority/fraternity and Greeks and non-Greeks do mingle.

Available
Since VCU is in the city, buses and taxis are pretty available to students. They also have a security transport which can come in handy if it is late at night and you're far from your dorm. Buses and the security transport are free for students. Be careful though; the security transport is not a drunk bus and I don't believe they take kindly to people using it as one.
