Always Something Going on and the Best Town to Be in During Football Season

Blacksburg isn't large, everything you need is really within walking distance, and the bus system gives you plenty of options. The stores and eateries are always delicious and even a college student can afford them for special occasions. Football season is when the town is at its best.

It's Hard Work but You Will Learn All You Need to Know

The engineering program is one of the best in the country, and the workload is still very manageable at 15 to 18 credit hours. The registration process is great, as the first round is not necessarily first come first serve but has heirarchy among the levels of students. VT makes a big deal out of the professors being reachable and willing to help, but in my experience they tend to be annoyed when having people in during their "office," read: "puzzles or games", hours.

Math Emporium Is Annoying and the Tablet Computers Are a Racket

The math emporium is the largest collection of computers than anyone can use for certain math courses, but it is off-campus and requires bus transport, is often crowded, and uses Macs. You must buy a laptop if you are a student, but not necessarily from the Virginia Tech supplier. Unless you are an engineering student, in which you must buy a state of the art tablet PC from VT at $500 above market price.
