University of California - San Diego had a new discussion posted by Koolkat7

I am looking at many schools right now, UCSD being one of them. However I am not sure whether or not this school would be good for what I'm interested in. I would like to go into English with a writing focus (creative writing) to possibly go into teaching or writing as a career. Any feedback would be much appreciated! -Thanks.

UCSD is mainly undergraduate research but I'm sure you could find something here! I know people that are in literature majors and they love it!

Hi! So I'm a current freshman at UCSD, and I absolutely love it here...so my opinion might be biased. But UCSD is mostly a school for hard science majors, focused on engineering and biology.

I have heard that the English department is good here too, just know that most of your fellow classmates will be science majors. And you might have to try extra hard to find internship opportunities for your major. Wish you the best of luck in your college choices!

UCSD is more of a research school, so their science departments are more acknowledged than their writing.
