Everything at IU Is Awesome
So far I've only completed my freshman year as an undecided major, so most of my experience is the general lecture classes. However, every professor was more than willing to meet individually, but not a lot of students took advantage of it. If you are a student that needs help all you have to do is ask, you will get it. Workload is minimal but increases as you get further into your major. Most of my grades are test-based. The campus and facilities are outstanding, the school is full of history and constantly kept up to the best condition.

Laid Back and Leniant
Because the school is so big, the school lets you take responsibility for your own grades and lifestyle. Intervention is rare and only when necessary

It Sucks
Parking is the worst thing about IU. The bus system compensates for it though. They do the best they can with the amount of people.

If You're Interested, Try It
I am a non-greek student but it's just not for me. A lot of students love that lifestyle. It's definitely worth trying if you have any interest at all, they are great for networking and they do a lot of philanthropic work.
As for how they are viewed by non greeks: they usually mind their own- I view them as pretty exclusive, they hang out with only themselves so they can be kind of snobby. And they are huge partiers, but that's normal.

It's One Extreme or the Other
In August, it gets to the 90s and is pretty miserable. There are a few weeks of in-between transition like rain and chillyness, before winter hits. Then its freezing & snowing and it sucks. The spring is awesome after a long winter's worth of walking to class. The buses have great air conditioning and heating, but they are very very crowded during the winter.
