Academics at University of Denver

A+

Innovative, Interesting, Current

I LOVE the media studies major at DU! My professors are very interested in what they are teaching and they are great about incoporating up to the minute current examples into our cirriculum. The school of Media, Film, and Journalism studies has done a great job of adjusting to prepare graduates for the current job market and reformulating classes and requirements for this purpose. The workload is succficient to learn however not unbareable and I can honestly say that I have benefited from every assignment I have been assigned (very very little busy work!) The alumni from the program are great about setting up internships and job oppertunities; I actually met with an alum that works for the New York Times last week!

Parking at University of Denver

C+

Expensive, Not So Convenient, Ok With a Permit

Permits are expensive and you are extremely likely to be ticketed if you do not park in your designated lot. However, finding a place in your lot is hardly ever a problem. There is absolutely no free parking, so visitor parking is sometimes a challenge even on weekends. Off campus parking is very limited and most spots have meters. A car however is generally not needed for first year students as we have the lightrail on campus and other students are typically willing to give you a ride.

Weather at University of Denver

A+

Sunny, Snowy but ALWAYS Awesome

The weather at DU is fantastic. We have 300 days of sunshine (more that Florida!) and its sunny even during winter or right after a snow storm. It snows in the winter but everyone gets really excited because that means we get to ski! We hardly ever have days where there is cloud cover all day and I would definitely say that the weather at DU makes me a happier person.

You Get Out of It What You Put in

I have found the classes and cirriculum at DU to be challenging and interesting. That being said, there are some kids who do next to nothing and slide by with B's. The workload for getting high grades is tough, but professors are easily accessible and always ready to help should you fall behind. Popular areas of studies are business, international studies, sciences, and humanities.

Facilities at University of Denver

A

Rich Donate a LOT of Money

The University of Denver has a beautiful location and campus, with the mountains as a pretty spectacular backdrop. On top of that, DU has a lot of rich alumni who apparently like to have building covered in copper named after them. What that means for students is that we have an amazing fitness center, Coors (yes, as in Coors Beer) Fitness Center. The library is currently undergoing renovation to create better study areas for students and to undergo a techology update. The student center is a great place to grab a coffee, go on a milkshake date, or study.

Greek Life at University of Denver

A-

Very Fitting to Campus Life

The DU greek scene is very laid back in comparsion to Greek systems at larger schools. Greek life has a very big presence on campus but many events are inclusive to non-Greeks as well. Greeks are about 20 percent of undergrads on campus and definitely on the rise. Most chapters have a house which houses Sophomore members and allows you to get out of the dorms after your freshman year. Rush is a great way to meet people and see what its all about regardless if you end up pledging.
