I really like the feel of Eugene. It is a great city with a relaxed vibe. Most people really enjoy nature and biking a such. Most people love their ducks and are into the football games. There are some good restaurants and shops and hiking areas!

There are lots of street lights and emergency buttons around campus that make me feel safe. However I prefer to walk in groups at night because there are some sketchy parts of campus at night. As long as you are smart about it you should be safe.

There are lots of good dining options at U of O. There is the new Fresh cafeteria in the Global Scholars Hall. It has fresh pasta, sandwiches, sushi, and rice bowls. However, things start to get old so you have to mix it up and go to different places so you don't get bored of the food. There are lots of different dining complexes with different options so it is easy to mix it up and stay satisfied.

So far all the professors I have had at the University of Oregon have been friendly and helpful. I know that not all of them are like this however a majority are. There are lots of different classes available so if you are undecided on your major you can explore different path ways. If you are a freshman it is harder to get the classes you want so you have to be flexible. The Knight Law Library is a popular study spot along with the tables at Lilis. I prefer to study in the study lounges in my dorm.

Academics at the University of Oregon are good. There are lots of different majors so chances are you will find something that fits your desires. Most of the majors have good programs and honors in the programs. Currently I am a pre-business major and I have heard nothing but good things about the Lundquist College of Business. Also there is an honors business program for those who want to go above and beyond.

University of Oregon Greek Life was reviewed by lacrossegirl12345

Greek life at the University of Oregon isn't very big so there is no pressure to join if you don't want to. However as a freshman girl you hear a lot about it because a good amount of girls rush. The packs of sorority girls walking around for a week is annoying but then it is over.

College Scholars program at U of O?

Does anyone know what this program is like? Is it really hard? Would you recommend it?

Thanks!

Sorry, no idea

I have never heard of it.

The creative writing program can be rigorous but rewarding.

I have had friends in the program and while it was challanging it is definetly doable.

Onyx House at U of O?

Does anyone know what it is like to live here? Would you recommend it?

Thanks!

Sorry, I am not too familiar with this house.

i dont know but i heard it is great to live there.

I am unfamiliar with Onyx house

I have two friends that live there and they both love it. They've both really social though, so if mingled with a bunch of people (good people) on a daily basis isn't your thing, Onyx probably won't work for you.

Small private school or big public school?

What are the pros and cons for private and small vs. public and big? Which do you think is better? Thanks!

I can't really say where I think you should go, seeing as I don't know your personality. However, I think that one of the big factors is class size; the bigger your school, the more people in your classroom (until you get into more specific/higher-level courses). With bigger classes, you may have a less intimate relationship with your professor, which may be something you feel is important. Also, would you feel claustrophobic in a small setting where many people know each other? What I would do is ask yourself how much you like your high school size. For example, my high school is fairly large, with over 800 students per class, about the same size as a medium-small sized college. If you hate how big or small your high school is, that may speak a bit as to where you may see yourself in the next year or two.

Pros and Cons: private vs. public

Private institutions are very good for providing close interactions between professors and students. They can also provide more intensive courses on specific program areas. However, public universities often have a wider variety of courses and programs to choose from, and many of the classes are still small--for instance, the French classes at the UO are generally around twenty five students. Large universities are also often the hub of life in college towns, and can provide many more attractions than smaller universities.

U of O is the nicest. It isn't actually very big, but all of the buildings are nicer than those other colleges and the weather is better.

U of Oregon is a great school. It is located in a college town that supports the school and its athletics. My first year was great and i am planning to stay there.

Well I would chose Chapman anyway over Oregon. I'm from CA so Im used to sun and I really feel that the weather was a major factor in my descison Chapman seems to have such a great energy and it seems to me that it is on a major rise!

I would prefer Chapman because of the emphasis I am pursuing is what I want to do for my career and Chapman is going to give that to me
