Athletics at Juniata College

C

Not a Big Deal

Students at Juniata are generally supportive of the college's sports teams, but sports does not seem to be a main focus at the school. Juniata is known for its great volleyball team, but it is less successful in football.

Nightlife at Juniata College

B-

Definitely Not a Party School

Juniata doesn't have a lot of bars, and I don't think that there are any clubs in the area at all. There are usually a few parties on campus on the weekends, but Juniata is generally pretty quiet. If you want to go anywhere interesting, you'll need access to a car, since there aren't a lot of transportation options around Juniata.

Drug Safety at Juniata College

B

Mostly Just Drinking

Drinking isn't a huge issue at Juniata; some loud drunks wander around the dorms on weekend nights, but most students who drink seem to do it quietly among friends. It depends on your RA, but underage drinking will usually only get a warning unless things get out of hand. Some students smoke, but it is kept outside. If you know the right people, you can probably find some illegal drugs, but the campus authorities crack down pretty hard on illegal drug usage when they find it.

Diversity at Juniata College

C+

Not much diversity

The school is accepting of cultural diversity, but it doesn't have a lot of diversity to accept. There are some international students, but Juniata's students are mainly white Americans, mostly from Pennsylvania. The most common religious views at Juniata are variations on Christianity and atheism. Juniata supports gaining more diversity, but it is a pretty monochrome place.

Transportation at Juniata College

C-

You'll need a car to go anywhere exciting

Aside from occasional school-sponsored bus trips to State College, a car is usually necessary to go anywhere outside of walking distance. There is a train station nearby, but for most purposes the choices are a car or walking.

Campus Housing at Juniata College

B-

Nice, but not great

The worst dorm on campus is Sherwood, but most of the other dorms seem alright. The rooms aren't especially big, but they generally have the regular dorm things: beds, closets, desks, drawers, blank white walls. The bathrooms are alright, but nothing special. Aside from Sherwood, most of the dorms have kitchens. All of the dorms have lounges, and people are usually in them for most of the day and night. Overall, the dorms have all of the necessities but few of the perks.

Campus Dining at Juniata College

B-

Not amazing, but not inedible

The main dining area is Baker Hall; it has different options each day, so you can usually find something you'll like, but, when all else fails, pizza and pasta are available. The food choices generally include variations on pasta, stir fry, and meat/potatoes. There are vegetarian options, but they are not plentiful. There is also a salad bar, a sandwich bar, a cereal section, and ice cream.

Juniata also has a food-court-like area called Eagle's Landing. (It was originally called Muddy Run after a nearby river, so the students generally call it Muddy.) The food isn't great, but it is consistent. It always has subs, Mexican food, Chinese food, salads, burger-type foods, and snacks. The meal exchange system only applies to specific foods each day, but all are available for cash or Declining Cash Balance.

There are a few other places on campus that sell snacks, coffee, and sandwiches, but there isn't a lot of variety.
