In other words, there is definitely a drug scene here, but it's definitely much more of an anomaly to hear about or witness. Alcohol, however, flows like the Nile, and probably couldn't even be easier gotten if you were 50 years old and owned a liquor store of your own.

If you're from the east coast, the random tropical (yes, tropical) thunder showers, temperature dips and heat spells, the cold, and gray skies will be nothing new to you. West coasters will discover the magic of snow and clothing that actually covers your body. Nothing spectacularly different here, just New England weather, no different from anywhere else in the region (except for being a little warmer than say, Boston). While people will always complain about rain "ruining plans", it's really not remotely a big deal and people will do whatever they want to and need to regardless. And snow is just a lot of fun - don't be surprised if you get pulled into a spontaneous snowball fight!
