Be Ready to Think
I came to Valpo because they had a social work bachelors program and Christ College (the honors college). I knew that I would be thinking critically in that, but I didn't know I would enjoy it so much or that I would find such integration of it is so many facets of the college experience. Every area of study incorporated hands on learning and discussion. The average class size is 22 but most of mine have been smaller than that. I feel confident speaking up in class, asking questions, thinking deeper, and every professor has known my name. I have learned more about myself and my field here than I could have imagined.

Completely Comfortable
Valpo is an extremely safe campus. The only thefts I have heard of have been bicycles, so bring a lock. But other than that, the kindness of the students and the suburban surrounding area keep Valpo a safe place. There are Emergency call booths around campus but the only time I have even come in contact with one was when I coincidentally walked into one and got a concussion. There is a heath center on campus that is covered by campus heath care and a Valpo hospital up the street.

Limited but There
There are no clubs in this town but a few bars. I am turning 21 soon so I'll experience that firsthand soon, but I have heard there are some good ones. House parties are the way to go but they are not as common on Valpo's small campus like they might be at big state schools. Parties are there if you want them but its more apartment parties and dry dance parties are houses. I've always had a good time though.
