how much harder is it to get into the business school vs the school of liberal arts? I can't seem to find acceptance rates specific to each school. is it really that hard to transfer once you're already admitted, and can you apply to both?

I can tell you that the business school is more selective. That's all I know though, sorry.

Is there a sense of community? I know that a lot of schools right in big cities lose the "college feel" and don't feel a single campus, instead just like a bunch of separate people going to school. I really like Northeastern but I'm afraid I won't feel like I'm part of something bigger.

I feel the same way! Yah does anyone have any insight?

As a freshman, you will live in a centralized location "the freshman quad" with many other freshmen. This makes your first year a great opportunity to meet a ton of friends, and there is definitely a huge sense of community! Make sure to put yourself out there, and these relationships will last through college. Otherwise, the community really "shines" through when there is warm weather, with students out on the quad etc. But when things get cold, campus definitely feels a little empty. My reccomendation would be to check out a fraternity/sorority, which is growing rapidly at Northeastern! That way you are part of a close-knit fraternity group, Northeastern as a campus, and the city of Boston as a whole!

I don't feel like there is a community. I feel like it's more like a commuter school. Everyone is really into their own thing. Sure you hang out with people and stuff but everyone is out for their own self interest. What I've found in a lot of clubs is that people join so it looks good on their resume.

As an incoming freshman, do you get any way to show interest in a particular dorm or are you assigned randomly?

Technically it's a lottery but when you sign up for dorms, you can put down preferences.

thank you!

for anyone who has received an answer to their application so far this year, what are your gpa and sat scores? were you accepted?

I was accepted with a 1900 SAT and 3.85 GPA

1900 SAT and 3.62 GPA. Gap year doing volunteer work in the Middle East may have helped. :)
