There are TONS of places to eat off-campus. You're in NYC! You can walk a block and pass 2 street vendors as you go. Some places even offer discounts for students, and one place by campus, Crepeaway, gives you a free crepe on your birthday. Free is always a plus!

A Wide Variety
NYU has a very wide variety of students. There are international students as well as students from all over the country. Many people that go here are well-odd, but others are your average middle-class citizen. Some perks about going here is that you can find celebrities, like Dylan and Cole Sprouse and Dakota Fanning in your class, which is cool because you get to see that they are just normal people like you. One thing that is kind of a downer here is that a lot of the guys are either gay or manwhores, so if you are a girl looking a nice guy, it's going to be tough.

Buses
So since the dorms are pretty spread out around campus, NYU provides buses/shuttles that run between many campus buildings. Since I live about 10 minutes from campus (walking), I have yet to take one of these buses, but it's always nice to have that option.
