RPI Facilities Are Pretty Good
For the most part, the facilities at Rensselaer are excellent. There is a large fitness center, consisting of indoor tracks, basketball courts, a swimming pool, fitness center and weight lifting room. The athletic complex is relatively new and very modern. The library and student union are both excellent, providing quiet places to study as well as a variety of delicious food. The performing arts center, EMPAC, is the one drawback. It is a beautifully constructed modern work of architecture, which unfortunately sits empty most of the time, due to a lack of interest in the performing arts on campus.

Great Food Around RPI
Surprisingly, Troy offers a variety of inexpensive, delicious food. Most restaurants are withing a 30 minute walk from campus, and there are always buses and shuttles running if you're too full to walk. Pizza Bella, right on the edge of campus, is the ultimate late-night snack haven. I also recommend Spill'n the Beans Coffee Shop in downtown Troy for a good cup of coffee and a hearty weekend breakfast.

Make Friends With Brothers
Though clubbing in Albany is an option, getting there is really inconvenient. There are a few bars around campus, but those are generally better for mid-week drinking, or for when parties run out of supplies. There are usually several fraternity parties to choose from each weekend, and a few house parties. Being a girl, the parties are easy to get into, but it's very difficult for guys who aren't brothers or friends with brothers at whichever fraternity is having the party. Guys generally need to receive personal invites in order to get in.
