Approximately how many African-Americans?

On average how many African-Americans will you have in one of your classes?

does it matter?

what does that have to do w/ anything.?

Why does it really matter? Do you want them in your class? NO matter what one or more will b in your class, at almost EVERY school.

I dont really think that should matter.......

Yes actually it does matter, at least to me. I'm black and having other African Americans at the school I'm going to is very important, I've been in ALL white environments and I've been in ALL black environments, and I've been in the in-between so I want to make sure that the school I'm looking at has a good balance. Being around people that look like you is actually very important.

man .. I've been looking for colleges with a good amount of african americans and people of color too. It's not easy at ALL being black in a sea of whites.

THANK YOU!this is not a racist discussion but it's a known fact that if your around people that look like you, that you can relate to and people that have been through some of the same experiences as you, your more likely to succeed. Thats why there are predominantly white school because that's the type of environment they can succeed in. If there's a big number of African Americans that means it's a more welcoming environment for that and not only that there will be more resources for a black student. @eshanyedwars try looking at Temple University they have about a 32% black population. I'm really thinking about going there.

My Sister goes to Temple and i promise you, you will love the school... the area ehh but overall its really nice there!

Im black and id like to be around black people

Id say the African-American demographic at UF is even with the Anglo or Hispanic students. However, it also depends on the major. You're more than likely to find a certain ethnicity, or several, more dominant in a certain major than in others.

Why don't you just go to an HBCU then if that's what you're looking for?? African Americans are a minority in ALL OF AMERICA and the classrooms on college campuses will reflect that unless you're at an HBCU.

10%

There is not a single black person in my major... so I only see them if I'm taking gen-ed classes.

In the college of pharmacy, about 15%.
