I want to pledge AKA, but it seems as if they're inactive... is this true? and why?

Yes this is true because the members that are apart of the chapter at Mizzou are now graduate students, so they don't have the time to put together a line right now.

Do not ever repeat this on campus, ever. Publicly proclaiming what you want to cross is seriously looked down upon.

what EXACTLY do I need to get into Howard? What looks good, and how hard is it to get in?

For me it wasn't too difficult and my grades are nothing special i had a 3.7 and 1700 on the SATs. They really look for a overall well rounded student with extra curricular activities and decent grades. It's not the typical HBCU having over a 3.0 will really help.

can you give a brief description of some of the activities you participated in, while in high school, were you in any sports?

@cc3bc i was involved with a youth group in my town, volunteered at the hospital, apart of my schools club Black Youth Organization, Student Activities Council, Israel Club, and i did several sports throughout my high school career.

I was accepted with a 3.0 unweighted GPA (4.4 weighted), Act score of 25, and SAT score of 1750. I didn't participate in many extracurricular activities in high school, but I held leadership positions in the ones I was involved in. Also, I had a pretty decent essay and my letters of recommendation really helped.

were you in any AP/IB/honors classes? I hope this isn't too personal of a question, but what did you write about in your essay, and what was the essay question? And what was your class rank?

@lola13 I took 6 AP classes in high school. Never scored higher than a 3 on any of them. There isn't really a topic if I can remember... They just ask you to talk about yourself, your strengths, and your weaknesses. I was really lazy in high school and I attributed it to a lack of motivation. In my essay I wrote about what used to motivate me, my potential, and how being an environment like the one provided at Howard will motivate me do something great with my life.

ireviews I actually just returned from a college road trip and Howard, being my #1 option, was one of the schools I visited. When applying to Howard they are looking for those who obtain at least a 3.2 GPA, 1170 on the SAT's, and at least a 26 on the ACT's (based on reading and math portions).

If it helps (I actually haven't gotten into Howard) I have a 3.4 and a 1700 SAT and I'm a JR. right now. I play softball and won awards based on hardwork and improvement and I'm president of Film Club. I'm also in Amnesty International and French Honor Society and planning to do student-to-student tutoring over the summer. My College Counselor at my school said I could get in with that. I took and am taking Honors/AP classes. My school doesn't give out weighted GPAS though.

I got into Howard surprisingly since my grades weren't that great. I had a 3.2 and a 1600 on my SATs. I think your SATs are really important b/c my friend had a 3.8 and a low SAT score and didn't get in. It also helps if you have a lot of extra curricular activities b/c I've had a ton. Most importantly if you know you really want to go their apply early action! So even if your grades aren't top notch you still had a good chance.

It's pretty easy to get into Howard. At least a 2.5 and an ACT score of 19.

It is not very difficult to get into Howard, but it is expensive and hard to stay in. Make sure you have good grades, a good SAT score and extracurricular activities.

You need either athletic ability or good grades. It is pretty hard to get into Howard. They select students that have proven themselves throughout high school.

You need a strong G.P.A, strong ACT and SAT. Get into activities, grades are not the only things you need. Join a club or sports team, net work and find someone who can give you an outstanding recommendation.

They love leaders. Your grades are important as well but you have to be well rounded with leadership Qualities.

To get into Howard the minimal requirements with the chances of some scholarship money, you need at least a 3.0, 24 ACT, and a good personal statement. Its not very hard to get in, but if you want money, your application should be above Average.

There is a 50% chance you will get in. You must have alot of community service and a roundness to your application.

An awesome GPA, and a lot of extracurricular activities, Howard wants to see a well rounded student.

I would say at least a 3.0 and a good essay. Howard is pretty easy to get into if you have good grades and a solid application.

It's relatively easy to get into Howard. You don't need to be valedictorian or have a 4.3 gpa or a 2100 SAT score, but they do place a lot of value on extracurricular activities and how well you can balance that and your education.

Can I get in with a 3.03 GPA and a 1990 SAT?

yes

I got accepted into Howard too. I made a 22 on the ACT and 3.89 gpa
