They Try, but It's Disappointing.
The classes barely skim the surface of what they say they will. I've rarely seen students asking thought-provoking questions because they have an innate curiosity about the material; likewise, the professors do not generally foster an environment conducive to asking or answering these questions. You learn something, but not as much as you should be for the money.

Caterpillars. Need I Say More?
Maybe I do. I saw a girl jump up and start screaming after she found a caterpillar in the food she had chosen at one of the dining halls. Other than that, the food is generally okay, but nothing above and beyond (even Julia Child Day). The school is very accommodating of vegetarians, sometimes to the exclusion of meat-eaters.

What Off-Campus Housing?
You can't live off campus until you're in your junior or senior year (I can't recall which). Smith tries to keep you on their campus all the time so they can get your money.

Why are you complaining?
Weather is very mild. Occasionally, there's some snow, but the temperatures are quite mild and the weather doesn't change without warning. Invest in a good umbrella, though, and be aware that it does get to be windy at times.

Overpriced and overrated.
I've never understood what the big fuss over Northampton was. If you like to party and shop, I guess it can be okay. But if your interests are outside of those boundaries, be prepared to venture to another town to be entertained.

Overcrowded buses, but hey, they're free!
I can't argue with free buses. Be prepared to have three or more to a two-person bench seat on the B43 route during peak times. It's always convenient, though, to know that you can take your ID and hop a bus to another town or to the mall.

Not all it's cracked up to be.
I agree with the previous reviewer who said the person pairing up first-year roommates must be on drugs. Be prepared to go through mediation to make a livable situation for yourself. Also, the housing office is slow, inefficient, and whiny ("We have soooo much work to do all the time!"). But some of the houses can be really nice, especially the ones remodeled in the past few years. Others... need a little work.
