Small Classes, Excellent Professors (For the Most Part)
I came to Colby in part for its fine arts program; with its own museum and the large amount of funding that has gone into the arts over the past couple of years, Colby really has an excellent department. I didn't want to limit myself by going to art school, so Colby was the perfect liberal arts school for continuing my art, as well as pursuing other academic subjects. I am still not sure what I want to major in, and Colby is making it really easy to explore all the different fields before settling on one. I can also attest firsthand that it has an excellent biology department. Some other students I know have been less than thrilled with their first-year professors, but I guess that's just luck of the draw.

Lots of Drinking on Campus
Because Colby is essentially in the middle of nowhere, nobody goes out into Waterville to party and basically everyone gets drunk on campus, hopping from dorm to dorm and usually ending up at the Senior Apartments. It can get a little repetitive after a while, but if you look, you can find alternative ways to have fun because there's usually always some student-organized event going on, like a performance.

Jitney Is Unreliable but There Are Other Options
The jitney is unreliable and has been known to strand kids places (like Walmart...) but for transportation to off-campus locations for jobs or clubs, there are cars you can rent out (if you are authorized). Also, you can get taxi vouchers to waive fees for getting a ride to the aforementioned locations.
