Campus Housing at DePaul University

B-

Dorm Housing-Munroe Hall

Living on campus is expensive and for the first year you are required to have a meal plan of about $3,000 for the academic year. You do not get the money from the meal plan back if you do not use it all by the end of the year and many do not use it all. It is mostly freshmen living in the dorms, upperclassmen move off campus. The rooms are a good size, I share mine with one other person and a bathroom with two people next door. The heaters do not work very well and can only be left on for about 15 minutes before having to shut them off because you're sitting in the room sweating. People working in the housing facilities are very helpful and things get fixed in a timely manner.

Athletics at DePaul University

A-

Not a Football School

DePaul does not have a football team and the majority of students attending are not super interested in sports. The soccer team has been doing quite well however. The basketball team has not been doing that well in recent years but they're hoping to turn it around by hiring a new coach this year. Not a huge sports school overall though.

Computers at DePaul University

B+

Average Computer Labs on Campus

Some dorms have a few mini labs on some of the floors, most of which get crowded and unavailable during finals. Most of the dorms have printers that students can connect to wirelessly. Although, on a few occasions the printers have gone offline and stopped working, making it difficult to print. The library has a large selection of computers as well.

Off-Campus Dining at DePaul University

Fantastic!!

Being in Lincoln Park or the Loop makes it really easy to find a good place to eat. Most restaurants offer some sort of student discount and some of the restaurants in Lincoln Park offer free delivery to the dorms. Duck Walk (Thai) and Uncle Sammie's (Sandwiches) are practically on campus and delicious. Lincoln Ave is a block away and has a ton of fantastic restaurants. There's also plenty of favorites near both campuses (think Chipotle and Sbarro's).

Campus Strictness at DePaul University

The Dorm Policies

While there is no curfew (a plus) residents are only allowed a certain number of people in their dorm at one time. And there are restrictions on the number of nights people can stay, this makes it hard for friends to spend a long weekend at your dorm. There are ways to get around it, for example, having your roommate sign in your friend for a night. However, if your roommate wants to leave at all the friend has to get signed out.
