Campus Dining at Grinnell College

A-

Pretty Good!

Most of the meals are very good at the dining hall. It's by no means exceptional, and it does get boring sometimes, but there are plenty of options, even for vegan/gluten-free. If you get bored of pizza, burgers, and the plat du jour, you can always go to the make your own stir-fry station, sandwich station, or pasta station.

Campus Strictness at Grinnell College

A+

Awesome!!

Grinnell operates under self-governance, which basically means that you take care of your own life without the school's interference. The police officers are some of the nicest, friendliest people I know. If you are drunk out of your mind, they'll make sure you get home safe instead of getting you fined/arrested. The campus is very easygoing so there is plenty of drinking and drug use, but students rarely get in trouble for it.

French and Theatre Programs

We are a small school and thus there are small programs. The French program is amazing. The professors, especially Moisan, Ireland, and Magermans, are phenomenal and very successful at their jobs. They will go out of their way to make sure that you're doing well, and if you don't get placed in a certain French class, they'll just add you to the student list anyway. They really want you to succeed! Theatre is great here. We have three main facilities: Flanagan, a black box, Roberts, a traditional 500-seat stage, and the Wall, a small studio theatre with seating for about 40 or 50. I encourage ANYONE to take introduction to acting; it has changed my perspective on the world so much! Quintero and Thomas are my favorite professors, but they're all great.
