Very Spirited
I personally am not a huge sports fan, but there are a lot of good opportunities to attend games and get involved. The MUSS (Mighty Utah Student Section) is a pretty big deal on campus and people make a lot of friends through that. The Utah-BYU rivalry is also intense, so if you are into a good rivalry, there will be heckling.

Pretty Average, I'd Say
I'm not sure how too many others schools are, but it is fairly average. It is a dry campus, but it isn't enforced extremely harsh and the Fraternities always have alcohol. Overall, it's a pretty relaxed place.

Welcome to the Mountains
Salt Lake City, and more particularly the U, is essentially on the mountain, so it will be cold in the winter. (However, this provides amazing opportunities for skiing and snowboarding - a ton of resorts are only 20 minutes away.) The climate is pretty dry because it is a desert, so the cold isn't bone-chilling, but the weather is easily dealt with if one uses some strategy. The fall and spring are great and a lot of people hang out outdoors.
