How hard is it to transfer to U of I's business program and history program?. Any advice to make me a solid transfer?

The College of Business at UIUC is really competitive. A friend of mine applied with a solid 31 on his ACT, awesome grades and everything, but got deferred and then rejected. To be a solid transfer, I'd recommend you make double sure you have all of the requirements met (they changed the requirements again this year) and that you have solid grades in all of your business-related classes. They're really choosy based on grades along with scores (ACT, etc).

I wanted to know any tranfer percentage for the following: U of Michigan, Northwestern University, Cornell University, and

U of I. I plan to major in business.Has anyone had any tranfer experience or can give me advice. I understand that

transfer applicants have a lower percentage rate than those that apply as freshmen. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Northwestern doesn't have an undergraduate business major, so you may be looking at the grad school. Otherwise you could major in economics. The transfer percentage is stated on the website as 15-20%, but some say it feels as low as 10%.

How hard is it to tranfer to Northwestern?

Pretty difficult. Transfers have less chance than incoming freshmen to get in.

The above comment is true. NU accepts something like 6%-7% of transfer applicants, and the number of transfer applications has increased enormously in the last few years.

I recently found out that I had been rejected fro U of I's business program. That got me really depressed considering I fell in love with U of I. Can an appeal Help me? or should I

just give up?.

Did you get into general studies? If so you can try to do an inter-college transfer at the end of Freshman year. But it's a risk. Same thing happened to me so you're not the only one.

No, I got rejected completely. That's why I want to see if making an appeal can change their decision. I'm worried that the admission officer who reviewed my stuff was someone who've I never met. I directly spoke to one specific admission officer the most.

U of I Campus life

I wanted to know how life on campus is whether it's bad, good, or in between. Also, I have a friend that lived in Chicago and got accepted to this school. What would be better if you live on campus to avoid 2hr drive from Chicago to U of I or stay and live on campus.

No one drives there every day from Chicago... That's preposterous.

Definitely live on campus.

It would be better if you live on campus because most of the dorms are walking distance and you wouldn't be wasting much time driving or taking transportation.

Campus life is lively, but mostly partying. Depends on what you're into. I don't understand what you are asking in the second part.

Campus life is probably one of the top 3 reasons you should attend the University. I highly recommend living on campus and not do the 2hr drive. UIUC offers more than enough opportunities for students other than academic facilities. www.illinois.edu
