Room to Explore With Freshman Seminars
All freshmen at Trinity are assigned to a writing intensive semester-long seminar based on our five favorite choices of the courses offered. I was assigned to "Japanese American Internment", which studied the cultural, racial and social environment that led to the mass-incarceration of Japanese and Japanese-Americans during World War II. Initially I was not looking forward to the class because I’m not a history major, but it turned out to be my favorite class during the fall because it was intellectually engaging and related to contemporary issues in Post-9/11 America. The same applies for many other courses here; even if it isn’t part of your major, there are classes to take that are worth going simply because they’re interesting.

Abundance of Freedom
The President of Trinity has said himself, albeit in a private setting, that the legal drinking age should be reduced to 18 to reduce the likelihood of excessive underage drinking in college. However he does advertise "discretion" and "drinking in moderation". That being said, there is little enforcement of rules to prevent underage drinking. However, my advice is still to be intelligent about it.

Most Needs Are on Campus
There is an on campus and off campus shuttle, but they only run in the evenings. Most things you need on campus are available in the bookstore, dining halls, or are literally across the street from the school. Buses don't run on time but if the mall and other stores are nearby. Most parties are on campus so you won't be off campus that often anyway to need transportation.
