Diversity at Rhodes College

D+

LACKING

They definitely try to diversify the student body, but it doesn't end up desirable. I went to a large, very diverse high school where anyone could find a place to fit in. The people at Rhodes tend to be rich, white, and Southern. I feel like I could make myself love it here, but I would have to change a lot about myself.

Weather at Rhodes College

A-

Eh It's Fine

It's hot and humid so far compared to anything north of Tennessee. However people from the South in general tend to say that it's nothing compared to what they experience back home.

Local Atmosphere at Rhodes College

C+

Kinda Boring, but OK If You Try Hard

The campus is walled off from the rest of Memphis, and there's a great discrepancy in financial well-being and social class between Rhodes College and the rest of Memphis. Memphis is having a tough time in this economy, so it didn't fit the "big city" shell I had in mind. A lot of areas seem really rundown. Midtown area is alright. The Stax Museum is the coolest place in Memphis in my opinion. It's really interesting and shows the wonderful history of Memphis and music. You need to have a car or friends with cars in order to even experience life outside campus. Students seem to be very dramatic when it comes to their safety outside campus, and they say it's very "sketchy." However it is not at all compared to most big cities. Beale Street is very touristy, and you can only really enjoy it if you are 21+.
