Fine Arts Has No Funding
I go to the college of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP) and have been really disappointed in my foundation studios. A lot of the core studio topics are taught by graduate students, so I don't feel like I gained much solid ground my first year. The connections you can make through the school of art are fantastic - I'm involved in a lot of really amazing side projects around the city. But honestly, that's not thanks to the school itself - it's due to the other students I met there. Overall, Cincinnati is a valuable place for me to be, and DAAP is really highly regarded nationwide, so it will look great on a resume. I feel like it's a great springboard city for an artist, and I like that the school of art is more flexible than others within DAAP, but sometimes, I just want more of a challenge.

Housing Needs an Update
My dorm year was spent in Daniels Hall - filled with quads and doubles. The spaces were pretty cramped, much more so than other dorms on campus, so my experience was pretty biased. Overall, the dorms are just okay - they are well heated and we had internet in our room. The elevators were kind of janky, though.

Diversity
What I love about UC is the range of people it draws. There are about 30,000 students, and you see all sorts - the drama kids, the hipsters, the goths, the christians, the jocks - you can find pockets of more concentrated steriotypes if you are in one of the more specific colleges sometimes - like the school of art, or the music conservatory, but for the most part, you meet a wide range of people in classes.
