Diversity
Very diverse for a private, Catholic school. There are lots of international students (primarily Asian). All religions are represented both in students and faculty (even Zoroastrianism). It's a little less than half Caucasian, so skin color is well represented for a school of its type. It can actually be a little off-putting at first how open everything is, particularly if you come from a pretty hard-line family or place insofar as religious or social values. There is a very open community of support for gays and lesbians. So, I found the diversity to be a very strong thing.

Too Much Drinking
At Santa Clara people party during the night on Wednesday (tradition) and Friday and all day Saturday. All parties are off-campus. If you love a good party, it's great. As a non-drinker, though, Santa Clara kind of sucks on Friday night. Everyone goes off-campus, so the dorms are pretty empty. I would recommend developing a comfort level with being around lots of alcohol because the best way to get by is to go around with everyone and not drink.

Silicon Valley
Billionaires come and talk at the school all the time. Companies recruit on campus a lot. Internships are very easy to come by. For convenience of finding an occupation, there is nothing like going to school in the Silicon Valley.
