School Is a Bit Small

After a while everyone knows everyone either personally or by reputation. I hear people talk about the Mac Goggles which is the same thing as Beer Goggles. Women at Mac have developed the 3G theory: "Girlfriend, Gay or Gross". These concepts come from the small size of the campus. After a while, it becomes hard to find someone you don't really know and vice versa. I think that's what creates some problems with the dating scene. Everyone knows each other even if they rarely interact with each other.

Smart Athletes

I think that Macalester's orientation towards academics and not so much towards sports attracts intelligent athletes to the campus. Athletes do the sport because they want to do it for pleasure more than starting a professional athlete career.
