I'm not Christian, nor am I affiliated with any religion, but would I fit in okay? I'm open to all religions, though. Thanks!

yes you will fit in just fine. the school is great and offers great programs. there is a great variety of people that attend the school and i can guarantee you that you will enjoy yourself.

You are required to attend 80 hours of chapel...if you aren't Christian it really shouldn't be the place for you. The school is very nice and the programs are great, but chapel is a big part of it.

It's very easy to go to chapel and not pay attention...

There are plenty of people here who do not identify as Christian or who are not as traditional as you'd expect. Like any other place, there will be people who want to shove religion down everyone's throats and others who respect your intelligence and individuality enough to allow you to make that choice on your own. Yes, with chapel, you'll get an ear-full. However, a lot of people just do their homework there and practically don't hear a single word. It is only 30 minutes. It's annoying to have to go basically every day, but when you look back on it, it really isn't a big deal. Most of our programs offer an amazing education with amazing professors - and that is why we go to college in the first place. The only thing I'd suggest, if you do decide on ACU, is not to parade the fact that you are not Christian because you really will get an ear-full. Many people will respect you as long as you respect them and their beliefs, as well. Good luck!

Is UVU affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? Are there a lot of Mormons there? Nothing against it, but just wondering because I'm not Mormon. Thanks!

UVU has an LDS institute building, and the majority of the student population are LDS but it is not run by the church like BYU is. You'll probably find more people of other faiths there than some other schools around.

Not directly, but there is an LDS Institute located on campus. Most students are LDS due to the majority of the local population being LDS.

No school is affiliated with a religion. Yes the LDS church is very prominent in the state of Utah, but as a non-mormon member myself I have never been bothered by the LDS students.

There is a good mix of those who are Mormons and those who are not. It is quite open to everyone and all beliefs and you don't feel like you have to pick sides as anyone can become a good friend. UVU is not run by the LDS church.

Actually, not really. There are a few, but it's definitely not domineering.

well being that you would be in Utah which is mormon central of the globe! lol its a diversity of mormon and other religions. Its not exactly BYU but it is more relaxed. Hope this helps!

There are a lot of mormons here. I would say the good majority is Mormon population, but having said that, there are still thousands attending UVU that aren't as well.

The majority tend to be Mormon, however, I am not. Also, everyone that I meet is friendly and accepting. The thought of the majority being Mormon doesn't even cross my mind.

Will I fit in alright if I'm not Christian? I have no religious affiliation, but I'm open to all. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

It would be hard to "fit in" without having a religious affiliation. Although CBU is tolerant and loving to all students, it is definately guided towards helping those who have already become a Christian strengthen their relationship with Jesus.

I know this is a late comment, but I just saw this and thought I'd give my two cents :) CBU is definitely a Christian school, and that affects every student through things such as chapel and Christian studies classes. But I don't think that you should stop you from attending! The vast majority of students are friendly and loving to every person, even if they aren't a Christian-you would definitely be able to make friends and find people to hang out with. I'd say that, if you come with an open mind and are willing to consider a relationship with Christ, CBU could be an amazing and life-changing place for you :) I would strongly recommend it!

Everyone is very welcoming here, not all people are Christians. So many people are here to help and support any decisions!

Yes, the people are generally nice and people are sincerely kind. There is no judgment if you have a different religion so it is totally okay. I have friends who love it here too although they are not Christian.

I also do not have any religious affiliation but I did not feel alienated at all. It may be a Christian school but that does not mean you have to be. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I did not feel judged or excluded in anyway.

THe people at CBU are very welcoming and not discriminant.

Considering there's only about 4,500 students enrolled at ACU, does the school feel too small? Any input or opinions on that would be awesome. Thanks!

No it doesn't feel to small. There are always people around and things to do. You just get to know your classmates really well.

perfect. thanks!

It is a good size. The professors are able to interact with students more because of the size.

Would someone who has no religious affiliation fit in? Obviously a lot of you guys are Christian, respectively, but would I fit in? I'm open to all religions, but how religious is the school? Thanks!

Many of the students here are Christians, but not all. One of my good friends is Ba'ha'i, and she fits in great! ACU is non-judgementa;, but you do need to realize that it is a very Christian school.

While each student is held to high moral standards and chapel is somewhat mandatory, I think that overall ACU is one of the most welcoming and loving places that I have lived.

I would say that ACU is very welcoming overall. I do have a handful of friends who are not Christian and they seem to fit in fine. However, keep in mind that you are required to take at least 3 Bible classes. If you have no familiarity with Christianity, then the classes may be challenging (so I've been told by my non-Christian friends), but there are plenty of people on campus willing to form study groups and the professors are very approachable.
