Apple Brand Seems to Be Preferred
Most students and teachers use Apple computers. This is probably due to the fact that you get such a good deal on them at Tiger Tech. However all the computer labs offer both apple and pc products. You're more likely to find an available computer in a residence hall lab rather than in the library.

Campus Is Right Next Door to Downtown
This means a whole variety of restaurants are available to you within walking distance. However theres not much in the way of fast food. And when you are a freshman in college this can be a problem considering your wallet.

You Will Have No Problems Finding One
Apartments are simply a way of life in Colombia. Everywhere I look I see advertisements. And if your worried about finding a room mate then don't be. Some places even do the match up for you.

Crime and Safety
During my first semester at Mizzou the school experienced someone trying to burn down the library (which resulted in certain sections being shut down-highly inconvenient!), people getting mugged and beat up, and a suicide. During the day the school seems really safe and inviting but I really hate when I'm caught walking home at night by myself! Needless to say I don't always feel safe.

Dining Halls/Meal Plan
At first the dining halls seem really great but after a while you just get....tired of cafeteria food. So by the time end of semester rolls around you could potentially have up to 30 (or more, some people I knew had over a hundred) meal points left. The downside is they won't reimburse you for the meals you didn't eat. So they are getting money for food you never consumed. They do offer little 'stores' where you can spend your points but the selections are limited and the often sell out toward the end of semester when all the freshmen realize the large meal plan was probably not in their best interest. My advice? Get the smallest meal plan. You probably won't run out of meals, but if you did you could always buy more or ask one of those freshmen with the 100 extra meals to swipe you in. Trust me, they will only be to happy.

Is a Car Necessary on Campus?
If you live and work on campus like me that would be a big fat no. If you needed to get somewhere off campus you could take a bus or cab or even ask someone with a car to take you. If you wanna go somewhere a little farther than there's a bus station nearby. Or you could take the MO-X, which is this neat little shuttle bus that will either take you to Kansas City or Saint Louis for a pretty reasonable rate.
