Not much to do in Claremont
Even though freshmen aren't allowed to bring cars, there were some who got away with it. I'd recommend bringing one if you can or befriend with people who have cars. You need a car to go to Von's and Trader Joe's. Yes, it's very doable to walk there but you're a Mudder so you never have time besides feeding yourself, doing homework and going to classes. Besides, having a car would let you bring more groceries back.
The village is just down the street from Mudd and it's kind of nice to go there. Claremont is a nice quiet college town so it's a big contrast from LA. However, this means that if you get claustrophobic from Mudd and want to get off campus, you'll find that there isn't much to do.... besides going to the village or Starbucks/Fruizen across the street.

A Lot of Options
The LAC (student center) has a computer lab which has about 30 PCs with two monitors. The CS department has 2 computer labs with iMacs. The CIS department makes sure each student has access to a laptop and they're generally ThinkPads tablets/MBP that they lease out. Sprague Library also has a classroom set of new MBP and some iMacs for students to use. Computers are everywhere and indispensable at Mudd!

A Lot of Space
Behind the dorms there are parking spots. Generally Platt Blvd has some spots for parallel parking along the inner dorms but those spots are limited.

California Weather!
Dry heat! Desert weather, so bring a variety of clothes. Winter has rain and can get pretty cold, but summer is hot and nice. It's nice weather, even the rain makes people happy.
